Introduction
Hello all, and welcome to Team 1’s final website report. As part of Northwestern’s Service-Learning English-282 course, this quarter we were given the task of compiling a final recommendation report for the Chicago Public School System as they deal with the influx of migrant families. We examined the emotional well-being, specifically the trauma endured by migrants on their journey and the mental health struggles they are now experiencing in Chicago. Further, due to limited funding and language barriers, the CPS continues to struggle to provide adequate resources and services to deal with the large influx of migrant students.
To accomplish this task, our team extensively researched the current migrant experience and issues, analyzed data, and conducted interviews with a migrant family and a principal from Carl Von Linné Elementary School.
